KHAYAT Publishing is committed to transparency and respect for authors’ rights. These preliminary terms outline the requirements for submitting literary works and translations for consideration.
Note: These guidelines are informational and do not constitute a publishing agreement. A separate, signed contract will govern any accepted work.

2) Submission Requirements
-
Authorized submitter: The manuscript must be submitted by the author or their authorized legal representative.
-
Originality: The work must be original, and not previously published in any language. (Limited exceptions may be considered.)
-
File format: Submit exclusively as a Microsoft Word .docx file, accompanied by a brief author bio/CV.
-
Channels we do not accept: We do not accept submissions via social media or messaging apps (e.g., WhatsApp).
-
Translations: Any translated work must be accompanied by documented permission from the rightsholder (e.g., the publisher or agent holding translation rights).
-
Citations & references: All quotations and references must be properly sourced and documented by the author.
3) Editing, Copyediting & Proofreading
-
Khayat Publishing covers accepted works’ basic copyediting and proofreading.
-
To expedite publication, we recommend submitting a clean draft with minimal linguistic and typographical errors.
-
If the manuscript requires substantive or developmental editing, such services are the author’s responsibility, or may be arranged with our editorial team under a separate fee agreement.
4) Design, Cover & Permissions
-
Cover design and obtaining required publishing permissions are handled by the publisher.
-
Authors will be invited to review the final design.
-
Any images or artwork must be submitted with written permission from the rightsholder and are subject to approval by our design team.
5) Evaluation, Timeline & Communication
-
We aim to respond within 15 business days of receipt. Absence of a response within this window should be considered a pass.
-
Upon acceptance, a formal publishing agreement will be issued outlining rights, print/digital formats, territories, and financial terms.
-
Standard publication timeline is up to 5 months from contract execution (or up to 6 months if intellectual property registrations or protections are required).
-
Expedited publication may be possible at the author’s request; any rush costs are borne by the author and will be quoted in advance.
6) Royalties, Incentives & Advances
-
Royalty payments are issued semiannually when the accrued amount meets or exceeds:
-
USD 100 for U.S. residents;
-
USD 500 for non-U.S. residents.
-
-
Off-cycle disbursements (outside the regular cycle) can be arranged subject to transfer/processing fees.
-
Sales incentives may be awarded if sales exceed projections (details to be specified in the publishing agreement).
- Payments & Tax Compliance (U.S.)
-
U.S. payees will be required to submit IRS Form W-9. Non-U.S. payees will be required to submit IRS Form W-8BEN/W-8BEN-E.
-
Depending on tax status, applicable withholding tax may be deducted pursuant to U.S. law.
-
Payments may be made via ACH, wire, or another mutually agreed method.
7) Rights & Permissions (Key Principles)
-
The publishing contract will define the grant of rights (e.g., print, ebook, audiobook), territories (e.g., worldwide), languages, term, reversion, and subsidiary rights (e.g., film/TV, anthology, serialization) where applicable.
-
Authors warrant that their submission does not infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, or publicity rights; does not contain unlawful, defamatory, or plagiarized content; and that all third-party permissions (e.g., text, images, lyrics) are secured.
-
Authors agree to cooperate in good faith on permissions and fact-checking where necessary.
8) Data & Privacy
Personal data submitted through our forms is processed per our Privacy Policy and used for evaluating submissions, contracting, and author relations. Do not include sensitive personal information not relevant to your submission.
9) No Return of Materials
We do not return submissions. Please keep copies of all materials you send.
